Caterpillar - Chrysalis

Chrysalis - Monarch Butterfly

The Erving Elementary staff has been working hard to hatch out as many monarch butterflies as possible this year. As you may already be aware, the monarch butterfly numbers have been in rapid decline for some years now, with last years numbers at the lowest they have ever been. This is due in part to a loss of milkweed habitat for the caterpillars. People all across the country are coming to the aid of the butterfly by carefully hatching out as many butterflies as possible. Thanks to our staff and students, we have hatched out about 70 butterflies! We are proud to be a part of this amazing undertaking!
